Living by Faith, and Not by Sight or Emotions
Updated: Feb 27, 2021
What we see and touch, deals with your feelings. Feelings always change, but faith is God's word which does not change.
DEUTERONOMY 7:9 (AMP): Know, recognize, and understand therefore that the Lord your God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love and mercy with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generation.
PROVERBS 3:5-6 (AMP) : Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge him, and he will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Faith is a product of the spiritual realm where things are hoped for but are not seen. Emotions are a product of things that happen in the natural or in situations. Emotions can be influenced by satan.
MATTHEW 21:22 (AMP): and whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.
ROMANS 10:10 (AMP): For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trust in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.
JAMES 1:6 (AMP): Only it must be in faith that he ask with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.
To walk by faith is to fear God more than man. For God is Almighty, and greater than man, yet because He loves us so much He will try to correct us in our wrong doings.
REVELATION 3:19 (AMP): Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].
MATTHEW 10:28 (KJV): And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
To walk by faith, we need to obey the bible even when it conflicts with man's commands; to choose righteousness over sin, to trust God in every circumstance, and to believe God rewards those who seek Him.
HEBREWS 11:6 (AMP): But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that he is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
That is why it's important to read the word (bible), to hear the word from a pastor, and to pray. Doing this will cause your spirit to be more sensitive to hear God talk and instruct you in your daily life, about the word, etc.
When we put God first (to think about God in every thing that we so, and giving praise to him) it helps us to stay righteous, and helps us not to backslide (turn away from God). Also, it helps us to help other's who are lost. Satan is always working to steal your faith, so keep in mind that if you have a discouraging day due to a spiritual attack, stay in your word, and pray...it will pass, trust God to keep you.
